The Astra Folk Group of Victoria will be representing Malta, as a Mediterranean group, for the first international festival ‘Folclore dei Lepini’ in Carpineto, Romano, Italy, between the 17th and 24th of July 2008.

The tour is being supported by the Maltese Government, and Joe Borda, Deputy Chairman of the National Festivities Committe of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, will be joining the group at the festival.

During the festival, the Astra Folk Group, through its singing and dancing, will be helping to advertise Malta and Gozo as a tourist and cultural attraction.

For this occasion the group will also be producing a special brochure about its own history and that of the Maltese islands.

The Artistic Director, Anthony Zammit, will be leading the group of 23 musicians, singers and dancers.
