With less than a week to go to the elections the PN Party is holding a mass meeting in Gozo, addressed by the Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi. The meeting is taking place on Tuesday evening in Victoria.
Speaking to PN supporters in Senglea this morning, the Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi said thatt, should the people re-elect a Nationalist Government, the first thing he would do “is instruct Simon Busuttil to create and manage a permanent interface with the people to ensure that the Nationalist Party is as close as possible to the beating heart of the people and is sensitive to their needs and concerns.”
The Prime Minister made an impassioned appeal to voters who feel disillusioned, disgruntled or in any way hurt. He cautioned that a “protest vote against the Nationalist Party would lead to the election of Joseph Muscat.”
The Partit Nazzjonalista said today that in the EU budget, European leaders offered Malta 500 million Euros in EU funds at the start of negotiations over the EU budget for the seven year period between 2014 and 2020.
The Prime Minister made an impassioned appeal to voters who feel disillusioned, disgruntled or in any way hurt. He cautioned that a protest vote against the Nationalist Party would lead to the election of Joseph Muscat.
“Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi immediately set out to convince our European partners that Malta is entitled to substantially more funds. He would leave no stone unturned to secure the best possible outcome for Malta,” the PN Party said.
“The Prime Minister’s resolve and conviction ultimately paid dividends for our country. He secured up to 1,128 million Euros in EU funds for Malta and Gozo.”
The PN statement said that “855 million Euros in EU funds were allocated to Malta for the current budgetary period (2007-2013). As such, 1,128 million Euros represents a substantial increase in EU funds for Malta – and this when the overall EU budget for the next seven years was actually cut for the first time.
“A good portion of the 1,128 million Euros will be applied by a new Nationalist Government to finance further and substantial investments in education. 10% of the 1,128 million Euros will be allocated to Gozo. The funds will be crucial in securing more and better jobs and in stimulating economic activity and delivering the quality leap we have promised in healthcare and education.”
“A new Nationalist Government will apply and administer the funds responsibly to secure the best possible returns on investment and, as a result, the best possible returns for all,” the PN Party concluded.
