MIA MetOffice warns of cold, windy showery weatherThe Malta Airport MetOffice said this afternoon that a low pressure area extending from the Gulf of Genoa to the Balearic Islands is moving southeastwards as a cold front associated with this low pressure system is expected to pass over the Maltese islands tonight.

“This will change the current warm and moderate wind conditions to Gale force Westerly winds and cold and showery weather from tomorrow morning. This weather is expected to persist till Friday when thunder and hail showers are also possible,” the MetOffice said.

“Maximum temperatures will drop by 8 °C, the coldest day being Friday with a maximum temperature of 12°C which is 4° below average for March.

“Winds will start to abate and weather conditions improve on Saturday as an anticyclone over Algeria will move over Libya,” the MetOffice concluded.
