The Cricket Summer league continued last Saturday with the Marsa C.C taking on Melita C.C. The Marsa team batted first and were confident of making a good score after the previous game run chase.

Wasim Abbas smashed the first delivery of the game to the boundary, but was soon out making six runs. Zubair Raja made thirty four runs from twenty four balls which included two fours and a six.

A couple quick wickets fell and the Marsa team were in trouble until Ronnie Sacco (forty runs)and Simon Lavendar (fifty five runs) met in the middle, the later retiring after forty balls faced. This brought the total to a similar score as in the previous week, 179 runs.

For the Marsa team Adam Krishna and Glen Tavilla took two wickets each while Aiden Xuereb and Chris Riordan took one a piece.

John Grima (retired 31 runs) and Glen Tavilla fifty five runs from thirty two balls, which included four fours and three sixes gave the best possible start to the Melita run chase. Then they lost Matt Robins, Chris Riordan, Pierre Naudi and Nik Stagno Navarro for twenty runs between them. Derek Ali toiled hard for his team making forty five runs from twenty seven balls, alas this was not enough and the team total ended up 172. The Marsa team also gave away twenty one extras.

For the Marsa team, Ronnie Sacco who has played very well in both of the Marsa games, took three vital wickets, Joe Gartner, Tony Slater and Daniel Galea all took one each.

Again the Marsa team earn sixteen points for the win and head the table with thirty two, while Melita and Krishna have two points each. Overseas have not played yet.

Next Saturday the Melita team take on Krishna.
