The Police arraigned 28-year old Shaun George Vella of Sannat, in the Gozo Court this morning in front of Magistrate Paul Coppini .
Vella, was accused of cultivating cannabis in an abandoned residence in Triq ix-Xabbata, Sannat, on the 25th and 26th of June, as well as in previous weeks.
Police said that he was found in possession of the drug and the evidence indicated that it was not for his personal use.
Vella had been arrested after being under days of observation by the Gozo CID, as the Police closed in on him, he immediately ran and although he managed to escape, he had been recognised the the Police in pursuit.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on the condition that he must sign into the Victoria Police station on a daily basis, be home in the evenings and deposit €500. He is bound by a personal guarantee of €3,000.
