Health Minister visits Hyperbaric Unit at the Gozo Hospital

Health Minister Godfrey Farrugia visited the Hyperbaric Unit in Gozo this mornig, which became fully operational again as of the 1st of May, after it had been closed for the previous six months.
This service is vital to sustain the diving industry in Gozo and also serves to provide hyperbaric oxygen therapy to the Gozo General Hospital patients. Since re-opening, 40 HBOT sessions and 4 emergency treatments for divers have been carried out.
The Ministry for Health said that it is also planning to train two further doctors in hyperbaric medicine at the GGH.
The Ministry said that the tissue viability service is an important step in the implementation of Government’s electoral manifesto measures for this legislature particularly the upgrading of the Gozo General Hospital.
Minister for Health, Dr. Godfrey Farrugia took the opportunity to give heart-felt thanks to all Gozo General Hospital staff involved in this project and the Ministry for Gozo for its support.
