Enemalta working to restore power to areas across GozoEnemalta said in a statement this afternoon, that it was working to restore the supply to several areas in Gozo, following a cable fault this morning.

A fault also affected supply to parts of the island yesterday evening, which included Victoria, Kercem, San Lawrenz, Gharb, Marsalforn and Xaghra.

The Corporation said that an 11kV cable fault, which occurred at 6.48pm, was isolated and the majority of substations were re-energised at 7.33pm with supply being fully restored to areas by 9.18pm.

A second fault at about 9.50am this morning tripped two feeders, in turn affecting a number of substations, causing outages in areas of Ghajnsielem, Fontana, Xewkija, Sannat, Munxar and Ghasri, as well as parts of Victoria. along with others also affected in yesterday’s outage.

Enemalta said that its employees are trying to locate the fault and are in the process of restoring supply to some of the affected consumers through alternative sources.

By12.40pm, Enemalta said that more than half of the substations had been re-energised and works are ongoing to restore supply to the remaining substations.

The corporation warned that “consumers who have already had their supply restored, may, suffer a short power cut during switching operation when normal network operations are restored.”

Enemalta apologised for any inconvenience caused to consumers.
