The Parliamentary Secretary for Planning and Simplification of Administrative Processes in consultation with MEPA is issuing for public consultation a proposed new, revised use classes order to replace that published in 1994.
The aim of revising the Order is:
– to ensure that the range of land uses and activities within each class accurately reflects the impact on the context of that class whilst remaining wide enough to encompass the changing needs of a diverse economy in the light of experience gained over the years and the implications of planning decisions on their surroundings;
– to reflect socio-economic and environmental changes that took place since the enactment of the 1994 legal notice;
– to facilitate changes of use between different classes which would result in a reduction of environmental impacts.
The proposed Development Planning (Use Classes) Order 2013 can be viewed on the MEPA’s website.
MEPA invites the public and interested parties to send in their comments and feedback related to this new proposed Order.
Representations are to be made in writing to the:
Director of Planning Development Planning (Use Classes) Order Forward Planning Division P.O. Box 200, Marsa GPO 01
or on the email address: classesorder@mepa.org.mt. Submissions must be sent to the Authority by not later than 18th October.
