Home-Start Ghawdex, a service offerred by Dar Guzeppa Debono, recently received a donation of over €1100, which was was made by the Rotary Club of Ashford Early Bird, UK.

The rotary club is twinned with Rotary Club Gozo and has been supporting Home-Start in Ashford, for the past 10 years. The donation was put together by a grant provided by the Rotary Foundation, UK and mainly through fundraising by the rotary club.

Mr Colin Hamer, President of Rotary Club of Ashford Early Bird, presented a certificate of this donation to the Home-Start Ghawdex Management Committee to commemorate the donation. Home-Start Ghawdex said that it would like to thank Mr Colin Hamer, for taking the initiative to support Home-Start in Gozo.

Such funds are allocated to equipping the Home-Start Centre with toys and a children’s library that volunteers can use with the children they work with. Volunteers will be able to carry out educational and fun activities for the families benefiting from the service, Home Start Ghawdex said.

Home-Start Ghawdex, offers support through a friendly relationship between volunteers and parents. Volunteers are parents as well, to enable that support is offerred through a friendship relationship, from parent to parent.

Volunteers visit families in their homes on a weekly basis. Home-Start can offer support to families experiencing situations such as multiple births, isolation, lack of support or illness. To benefit from the service families need to have at least one child under the age of five.
