The Gozo University Group in a statement this morning said that it “commends the appointment and introduction of youth ambassadors for local councils in Malta, however, it has to express disappointment at a major fault in the proceedings and the response that ensued.”
GUG added that it “sympathises with Ms Graziella Spiteri who was officially chosen to represent her hometown of Zebbug, Gozo, and now, according to reports, has, just a few days later been asked to step down from her new role due to being outside the age limit by a margin of a few days.”
“While GUG respects the rules of this system it must stress that such lapses should be avoided in the first place or at least resolved with professionalism and tact. This not only protects those involved from such an ordeal but also upholds the integrity of the entities responsible,” the GUG concluded.
