Ggantija Temples Seminar and book launch in Malta & Gozo with Heritage MaltaA seminar is being organised this Saturday by Heritage Malta on the Ggantija Temples, which will also feature the launch of the brand new publication on the same subject.

The seminar which will be held at the National Museum of Archaeology in Valletta will feature presentations by a number of experts in the field of archaeology and prehistory including highly acclaimed archaeologist David Trump, Heritage Malta’s head of curatorial affairs Godwin Vella, curators Katya Stroud and Daphne Marie Caruana as well as John Cremona and Isabelle Vella Gregory.

The seminar will also be addressed by Heritage Malta chairman Dr. Joseph Buttigieg.

The 208 page high-end coffee table publication which will be launched during the seminar is entitled ‘Ggantija, the oldest free-standing building in the world,’ features a number of articles as well as over 400 exclusive photos by acclaimed photographer Daniel Cilia, who was also entrusted with the design.

The hardbound, full-colour publication is printed on high-quality paper. It is edited by Godwin Vella and includes the articles “Ggantija, a century of changing perceptions” by Daphne Marie Caruana, “Folklore, early attributions and scientific valorization” by the same Godwin Vella, “Ggantija Temples in print” by John Cremona, “Brocktorff’s Archaeological Watercolours” and ” The Prehistory” by David Trump and “Life and Death on the Xaghra Plateau” by Isabelle Vella Gregory.”

The book will be on sale from the seminar at a reduced price of €40 instead of the retail price of €50.

Heritage Malta is offering Xaghra residents the opportunity of a limited pre-publication offer to purchase the new prestigious publication on Ggantija at a special price of €30.00.

The book will also be launched on a separate occasion in Gozo at the Ggantija Archaeological Park on Thursday, the 19th of December at 1pm.

Saturday’s seminar will begin at 9am with the registration of those present and will come to a close at noon.
