The Government has said that the Arriva bendy buses are to be exported to Sudan following the offer by a Maltese company of € 601,200 (excluding VAT)

The call for expressions of interest for the sale of bendy buses closed last Friday and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure said that it had received three offers, the selection was based on the highest price offered.

The selected company is to sign the “acceptance letter” and submit the deposit by this coming Friday, the 21st of February .

The Ministry said that the company is then bound to, within four weeks of signing, export the ‘bendy buses’ as well as ‘spare parts’ to Sudan.

“Although the ‘bendy buses’ did not form part of the negotiations between Arriva and the Government, the revenues from their sale will be going to Malta Public Transport Services” the Ministry said.

No it means what it says that they did not form part of the negotiations between Arriva and the Government. In other words Arriva did not want to have anything to do with them. The good thing is they are sold and won’t end up littering some area in Malta.
