A new e-service, offered by the University of Malta, will help bridge the gap between University and the world of work. Through Careerplus (www.um.edu.mt/careerplus), employers can now promote both job and placement opportunities for students and University alumni.

The University said that the easy-to-use Placement Scheme section will help put employers with placement opportunities in touch with students. Placements, which may be paid or unpaid, are meant to provide students with the opportunity to spend some time with a company or institution where they can perform tasks or shadow employees and managers so as to get hands-on experience of a particular area of work. The site is very straightforward and the University is looking forward to receiving information about Placements in every field.

The Jobs Connect section of the Careerplus website is aimed at employers of all kinds. It will give them the opportunity to find talented, committed and motivated students and graduates with skills that fit the job that they can offer.

Once jobs or placements are posted, individual students may apply direct to the employer as indicated on the posting.

The University’s Communications & Alumni Relations Office, the Knowledge Transfer Office and DegreePlus are the coordinators of this project. DegreePlus is sponsored by Bank of Valletta.
