A new book has been published by Fr. Joseph C. Vella M.S. about the Good Friday Procession in Zebbug Gozo.
The village of Zebbug during the Holy Week celebrates the Paschal Mystery, the suffering, death and Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus. This booklet celebrates, in pictures, this saving mystery in the Parish of Zebbug, Gozo.
The Good Friday procession, with the very expressive statues, the many biblical characters all dressed in local fabric of the loom, makes it unique in the Maltese islands, and the colorful pageantry is the center piece for the week.
Almost the whole parish participate in the preparations for weeks before and in the procession itself. The Procession is very impressive, done with great devotion and solemnity.
As the author himself wrote, ” I hope that this book will help you get into the spirit of Holy Week…Enjoy the beautiful pictures and most of all enjoy a peoples’ demonstration of Faith and Devotion. I believe we have something really beautiful at Saint Mary’s Parish and we would like to shatre it with you.”
The newly published book is in full colour and is written both in Maltese and English. The book can be bought directly from Zebbug Parish Church.
The Procession will take place this year on Good Friday, the 18th of April 2014, from 6.00pm onwards from the Parish Church along the main streets of Zebbug.
