On the 6th and 7th May, the University of Malta’s Faculty of Arts is organising an M.A. Fair on the Library Terrace between 10am and 5pm. The aim is to showcase and promote the Faculty’s varied program of postgraduate courses. Events include Discussion Sessions on Course Orientation and Career Talks.

The M.A. Fair serves as an occasion to inform interested persons about the variety and nature of the programmes on offer, as well as to provide an opportunity for them to meet the academics and staff responsible for them.

The Faculty of Arts recognizes the scope for taught M.A. programmes to address a growing demand from graduates wishing to further their studies, for the sake of building further on their knowledge or to direct themselves towards specific career paths. The significant growth experienced by the Faculty over the past few years and the high teaching and research profile of its academic members have made possible the design and provision of a range of taught M.A. programmes, either housed within the individual departments according to discipline or more broadly and thematically across departments within the Faculty.

Taught M.A. programmes comprise a body of study-units as well as a research requirement. While some of the taught M.A. programmes presume a prior qualification in the subject or in a related area, the majority of programmes have more liberal entry requirements, in some cases requiring candidates to possess a first degree in any discipline. The increasing application of liberal entry requirements is meant to respond to a wide variety of academic needs, ranging from graduates who wish to re-orient themselves academically, to those seeking a more practical application of their knowledge, to others who simply wish to pursue their quest for higher knowledge.
