The Police have launched an investigation after a large number of young cannabis plants were discovered on several roundabouts, as well as some central reservations across Gozo.

Environment Landscapes Consortium workers, who were carrying out their normal maintenance work, made the discovery earlier this week.

The Police were informed and the plants have since been removed and destroyed. The cannabis plants were found at Ghajnsielem, Marsalforn, Victoria and Xewkija.

Magistrate Paul Coppini is leading the inquiry.
