The Gozo Youth Council (GYC) has hosted a Belgian Youth Council representing youth from the region of Hasselt. The aim behind the exchange was to discuss the challenges of European youths and to ascertain common goals in representing and empowering the younger generation.

Well over 30 participants took part in the numerous sessions held, in which an array of topics was tackled. The mixed group of Belgian and Gozitan youths expressed ideas pertaining to education, employment, living costs, as well as contemporary cultural phenomena and current crises.

The GYC presented various proposals on how both delegations could work together, which was eagerly received by the Belgian group to continue building on ties.

The small island of Gozo was complemented by the foreigners, who said it was a pleasant, if short get away from home. They took the time to visit around the island, showing an interest in Gozo’s rich cultural and historical heritage, along with the different scenery and way of life that they are used to in their own country.

The group took up the challenge and returned the invitation back to Gozitan youths, who will be invited to attend an exchange in the region of Hasselt in Belgium.
