On Sunday morning an activity was organised at the Xhajma Race Track, organised by the Gozo Horse Racing Association, entitled ‘Now We Move,’ and held as part of the European Move Week events.
There was free horse riding for children, information on the wellbeing of horses, and demonstrations of shoeing by a farrier.
Louis Debattista of the Gozo-Greyhounds Sport Club, organised the club’s second event of the weekend, this time the participants cycled from Qala Square through the roads of Nadur, ending up at the the Xhajma Race Track, to join in the fun there.
The youngsters were able to have pony rides, and the group were also given the opportunity to cycle around the race track. Louis said that everyone there had a great time
The Club participants then set off back towards Qala, cycling the outskirts of Ghajnsielem to reach the main Qala road. They continued to the Wileg and around to Muxi and then back to Qala Square.
Louis congratulated everyone on a great day and for their achievement. He added, “I wish more kids, youths, grown-ups would join in and do the same, there is no need to be afraid of cycling on the roads. The beginning always hard but it gets easier the more you do it. The youngest kid yesterday was only 7-years old, so why not you?”
