Students, staff and parents from Gozo College, Gharb Primary recently went on a cultural tour to Malta. Their first stop was at The Limestone Heritage where they had ample time to learn about this industry and art from days gone by, and how it helped shape the temples, houses, palaces and churches that we have on the islands today. Later, they enjoyed a hands-on activity animated by the resident sculptor to shape the iconic Maltese eight-pointed cross.

The students then attended the Malta Falconry where they had a very close encounter with eagles and other birds of prey, some of which were flying free among the pupils!

The group were shown how the birds are looked after, and cared for in captivity, as well as how they survive in nature.

The school said that the aim of the visits was to show those present “how a balance can be achieved between nature and mans’ impact on the environment. None is exclusive of the other but have to exist hand in hand!”
