MEPA has advised that earlier this afternoon the young striped dolphin found injured yesterday at Qawra died.
A necropsy has been carried out by the Veterinary Services which indicated that the animal died as a consequence of respiratory problems due to fatigue, the Authority said.
All efforts were done to save the injured dolphin calf over the past hours, and for this MEPA thanked all the team working on this stranding, including Nature Trust Malta, Veterinary Services, Animal Welfare, the Armed Forces of Malta, the Police Force, BICREF, the University of Malta and staff from the Mediterraneo Park, who worked together and provided all the necessary support throughout the process.

R.I.P little precious soul, thank you to all the team that tried to save this precious baby’s life. It so great to see people trying to preserve these very special beings lives instead of murdering them for profit or using them for slaves in parks. I support your efforts and sure there will be many happy endings in the future…
