Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights Roderick Galdes, today gave an overview of the third free nationwide neutering campaign of stray animals which has been taking place in Malta, in collaboration with the German NGO, ETN.

During a news conference held in Floriana, that Parliamentary Secretary said that 700 dogs and cats have been neutered during the 2-week campaign, which he said, were part of the measures being implemented to help curb the number of stray animals on the streets.

He added that discussions have already started on a similar neutering campaign to take place in Gozo, which should get underway in the near future.

So far, over a period of 18 months, the three campaigns with ETN, have resulted in some 1,700 animals having been neutered.

The Parliamentary said that the campaigns were carried out at no cost to the public.

Roderick Galdes gave thanks to some of the feeders present, both for their dedication in feeding the stray cats, as well as their participation in the campaign, which he said, was undoubtedly a success.
