Ghajnsielem Archpriest Can. Frankie Bajada, led a delegation of around 60 people from the village, on a 6-day trip to Italy.

The highlight of the trip was the celebration of the feast of Our Lady of Loreto in the city of Loreto, eighteen miles south of Ancona and about three miles from the Adriatic coast of Italy.

During their visit to Loreto, the group had the opportunity to meet with Cardinal Beniamino Stella and Archbishop Giovanni Tonucci, the Prelate of Loreto and who paid a visit to Ghajnsielem last August.

The delegation also visited Rome where they met with Fr Samuel Grech, visited the Vatican, San Marino, Assisi and the Military Cemetery of Bologna where World War II victims were buried, including descendants from Ghajnsielem.
