Chorus Urbanus presents 'Il-Kuncert tal-Milied 2014' at St George's Basilica‘Il-Kuncert tal-Milied’ Yuletide Concert with Goztian Choir, Chorus Urbanus, is taking place this coming Saturday, the 20th of December, at St. George’s Basilica in Victoria, Gozo.

This concert, the 17th edition, will be marking the opening of the special celebratory year commemorating the Choir’s 40th Anniversary (1975 – 2015).

Chorus Urbanus was established on Christmas Eve during the Midnight Mass at St George’s Basilica, and this perhaps explains the special place Christmas has always had in the hearts of the Choir members, particularly those that formed part of the original choristers 40 years ago.

This year’s concert is being billed as ‘A Celebration of International Carols’ and will feature a number of traditional and popular carols originating from different parts of the World. Chorus Urbanus will be accompanied by the Urbanus Festive Brass, a brass ensemble specifically assembled for this concert.

Most of the carols are being performed on arrangements by Mro Dr John Galea who will be directing the ensemble and the choir during the concert.

Each year, the Christmas Concert by Chorus is organised in aid of a local institution. This year, as promised to HE Marie Louise Coleiro, President of Malta, the concert is being performed in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund. For this purpose, a collection will be held during the concert.

Entrance for the concert, which starts at 8.00pm, is free of charge, all patrons are kindly requested to be seated 15 minutes before the concert begins.
