PHTLS Course held in Gozo by the Emergency Response & Rescue Corps

Being the Maltese faculty of PHTLS, the Emergency Response and Rescue Corps has conducted another Pre Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) course.

The course was held last Saturday and Sunday, at the ERRC training headquarters in Xewkija, Gozo.

Twelve participants attended for this course Some of them were nurses, paramedics and volunteers of the Emergency Response Rescue Corps. All participants successfully completed the course.

The intensive course involved numerous simulations. To make these simulations as realistic as possible, the Casualty Moulage Unit of the ERRC, prepared the casualty make up to other volunteers who acted as patients.

PHTLS is an international certification in Prehospital care aimed for nurses, doctors and members of the emergency services available in Malta

The PHTLS programme was created in recognition of the real need in EMS education for additional training in the handling of trauma patients.

NAEMT’s Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) is recognised around the world as the leading continuing education programme for prehospital emergency trauma care.

The mission of PHTLS is to promote excellence in trauma patient management by all providers involved in the delivery of prehospital care through global education. PHTLS is developed by NAEMT in cooperation with the American College of Surgeons’ Committee on Trauma. The Committee provides the medical direction and content oversight for the PHTLS programme.
