2 UK touring teams take on Marsa in an entertaining weekend of cricket

What an interesting weekend of cricket at the Marsa Sports Club Cricket Ground, where two UK touring teams were entertained and four games were played, including a mini tournament.
Both teams are returning teams, first the Pretenders CC who were on their seventh tour, their first was back in 2006, the second team, Village CC, were on their second tour, their first was back in 2009.
On Saturday both touring sides played each other in a thirty five over game, where The Pretenders won a great game.
On Sunday a mini T20 tournament was played. In the first game the Marsa CC took on the Village CC where the locals batted first.
A great innings from Nowell khosla worth sixty six runs not out, kept the home team in the game. He scored four boundaries and two sixes along the way.
The home team totalled 140 runs after the allotted overs. Pitcher was the main wicket taker with two. while Thompson, TDM, N. Troja and Gupte. all took one.
In reply, the Village CC managed to reach their target in the twentieth over with N. Troja top scoring with thirty nine runs, S. Harty made twenty five runs and J. De Mellow made fifteen. Extras were worth thirty and is what cost the game for the home side.
Liam Azzopardi bowled well taking three wickets, Haroon Majeed and Nowell Khosla took two each, while Derek Ali and Cal Madden took a wicket each.
Village C.C win. In the second game the two touring teams met again and again the Pretenders stood tall.
The Pretenders now needing to win against the home side to win the tournament.
The Home team batted first and posted a daunting total of 168 runs. Bikram Arora was at his awesome best smashing four boundaries and four sixes. Extras was a concern for the Pretenders giving away thirty four. Adam Sanders and Raj Tullsiana were the only wicket takers.
The Marsa bowlers also bowled well and kept the visitors to 118 runs from their allotted overs. Adam Sanders batted well, top scoring with thirty six runs and Byron Duncan made twenty two, Anthony Dalton made seventeen and Raj made fifteen.
For Marsa, Tony Azopardi took three wickets, Joy Ghoseroy took two, while Sarfraz Ali, Frank Spiteri and Bikram Arora took one each.
The tournament ended in a three way tie.
Next Weekend the National team have a training camp in preparation for the upcoming tournament in June.
