Nature Trust Malta has released two turtles, Anne and Roberto, after several months under rehab at San Lucjan Tower, Marsaxlokk.

Both these turtles required medication after being brought in with injuries due to interactions with discarded fishing gear.

NTM thanked the public for bringing in these two turtles, and also thanked all its volunteers, veterinary surgeon Dr. Anthony Gruppetta and St. Simon’s Clinic, the Malta Aquaculture Research Centre, San Lucjan and MEPA for their input in the rehabilitation of Anne and Roberto.

Following the sad story about the death of the leatherback turtle, Nature Trust Malta said that this information campaign by MEDASSET– Mediterranean Association to Save the Sea Turtles, makes so much sense.

“The plastic in our seas is killing thousands of sea turtles and other marine life each year, as they often mistake it for food. Help protect marine biodiversity by adopting habits that minimise the use of plastic.

Consider using a reusable bag when shopping, avoid single-use plastic items, look for products and packaging made from renewable resources, choose products with the least plastic packaging and recycle what you can’t refuse!”
