The Met Office has advised that the storm in Malta earlier this afternoon was formed after heavy weather was moving to the East of Malta.
Due to the warm sea temperatures being 29 degrees Celsius, which is above the norm for August, thundery clouds were formed and expanded rapidly over the Maltese Islands.
The weather is moving Westerly and will continue with heavy thunderstorms and moderate to heavy rainfall in some parts of the Island. The Met Office added that the Civil Protection are updated about the storm.
