The Scout Association of Malta – Xaghra Scout Group is currently on a youth exchange, entitled ‘Farm2Fork.’ Youths between the ages of 18 and 26 from Bulgaria, Romania, Macedonia, Spain and Malta are camping together.

The main topics that are being catered for during this week are health and wellbeing, rural development and urbanisation and intercultural/intergenerational education and life-long learning. ‘The learning by doing approach’ is being used, where most of the time the youths have been doing hands-on experience in the relevant field.

The participants have learnt to appreciate the work behind food production together with the understanding of the importance of the EU and the local law governing food sustainability.

The last activity in the project is going to be held this evening, Saturday, the 22nd of August, starting at 9.00pm in Xaghra Square. It is entitled ‘Reach Out’ and the representatives of the different countries will be cooking their traditional food and presenting it for the general public to taste. Everyone is welcome to visit them and enjoy the food Xaghra Pjazza. See you there!

The project is being financed by the European Union under Erasmus+. It also includes the participation of other local organisations namely Fish4Tomorrow, MEUSAC and Permaculture Research Foundation.
