Fifteen years ago, Xaghra based, theguidinglight group, took on the challenge of organising the very first live crib on the Island of Gozo. The group welcomes adolescents and youths who are united in their quest towards a spiritually guided life.

This year the group's organisers embarked on bringing together an exciting new event built on the same original concept and aim but with a new setup- another first for the Maltese Islands. As has always been, the group's initiative is solely for the aim of delivering the message of Christmas to all those who visit the activity.Theguidinglight, in collaboration with the Ministry of Gozo and Culture, Christmas in Gozo and Ghaqda Milied fix-Xaghra are proud to organise 'Presepju Suq u Mexxi.' Visitors will embark on an interactive drive through the Nativity scene in the idyllic Ghajn Hosna Road in Xaghra.

The road will be transformed into a scene from the time of Jesus' birth with typical Jewish cultural and traditional characteristics.A cast of around 140 local voluntary actors hailing from the hosting village of Xaghra, will play the part of biblical characters to portray an inspired script.

Visiting drivers will be instructed to drive slowly through the different stages along the road, where each car will be stopped by the characters who will interact personally with the passengers and driver of each car to deliver their message.

The public will be able to visit the event with the live acting on play, on Saturday, the 26th and Sunday, the 27th of December from 5pm till 9pm. The site will also be open, without the presence of the actors and the characters, from 8am till 12am on the 27th December. Entrance is free of charge.

Drivers are kindly reminded that the event will be accessible from Ghajn Qasab Road, Nadur. Due to the nature of the event, a maximum of 120 cars will be able to enter each day, by the closing time. Therefore, carpooling is highly suggested to allow for more people to be able to experience the event. Moreover, using large vehicles such as buses, walking or cycling through the event shall not be permitted.
