The Ghajnsielem Lifelong Learning Hub, is the first centre in Gozo for disabled people aimed at strengthening their skills and preparing them to enter into the field of employment.
Work is now completed on the project and the Parliamentary Secretary for Rights of Persons with Disability and Active Ageing Justyne Caruana, is extending an invitation to everyone to view and gather information on the new learning hub, during an Open Week which is being held between the 12th and 17th of December, from 10.00am to 7.00pm daily.
For the first time in the Maltese Islands disabled persons will now have a centre exclusively dedicated to learning.
In collaboration with other entities, its aim will be to give training to the attending persons with disability in different aspects, so as to learn how to live more independently and to strengthen their possibilities in the search of job opportunities.
The three main partners involved in the project are the Employment and Training Corporation, the Malta Communications Authority, and Agenzija Sapport, which will be working from Gozo for the first time.
The Lifelong Learning Hub, is based in a Church property at Ghajnsielem and is the result of an agreement between the Government and the Church for the leasing of the building.
This project is part of the work being done by the Parliamentary Secretariat in order to strengthen and increase community based services in the Maltese Island, the Secretariat said.
