For.U.M. gives recommendations to changes in industrial tribunalsIn a letter to the Prime Minister and to the Minister for Social Dialogue, Civil Liberties and Consumer Affairs, the Forum Unions Maltin (For.U.M.) stated that it believes that changes to the current setup of industrial tribunals should include the appointment of a full time Magistrate/Judge to preside over industrial tribunal cases.

"From research carried out, the number of cases raised before the Industrial Tribunal as well as potential cases that end up in front of other courts, instead allow for the setting up of a specialised court, For.U.M. said.

Moreover, the For.U.M. has recommended that the court should be aided by a representative chosen by Trade Unions and another by Employer Organisations.

The For.U.M. also said that it is "against interim measures and rushed decisions which might further jeopardise sentences given."
