Voices & ChorAlchemy Derby perform sacred music concert in Xlendi

As part of the celebration marking the 10th Anniversary of the unveiling of the National Monument dedicated to Saint John Paul II the JP2 Foundation organised a sacred music concert with the participation the British choir 'Voices & ChorAlchemy Derby' under the direction of Mro Dan Miller.

The Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Xlendi was the venue for the concert, which is currently decorated for the feast taking place this coming Sunday.

The choir was first set up in 1995 by Mrs Ann Miller and is now under the leadership of her son. During the past week the choir have been on a tour of Malta and Gozo, including a concert at Mdina.Voices and ChorAlchemy Derby perform sacred music concert in XlendiThe programme by the choir for the evening in Xlendi included a cappella, music pieces that emerged from the pen of several renowned composers including Mendelssohn, Bruckner, Kodaly, Palestrina, Purcell, Jenkins, Byrd, Miller, Lucino, to name but a few.

The large audience enjoyed listening to hymns such as Agnus Dei, Cantate Domino, Praise-the-Lord, Beata es Virgo Maria, O sacrum Convivium, O Salutaris Hostia, the Benedictus, Locus same, the Kyrie and others.

Further concerts presented by this Foundation are to follow in the coming weeks.
