Zminijietna – Voice of the Left has said today that "the way forward to manage a sustainable circular economy is by addressing the source of the problem, which is the capitalist mode of production, which is based on maximisation of profit, environmental degradation and unsustainable consumption, practices and growth."

It said that "the way forward should be a green and just economy, where the economy should not only be efficient, but also fair. Fairness implies recognising global and country level equity dimensions, particularly in assuring a just transition to an economy that is low-carbon, resource efficient and socially inclusive…"

Zminijietna – Voice of the Left concluded by saying that the Government "should enforce laws and regulations so that all the sectors in society are actively involved in this process, especially the business community which is the main producer in the generating of waste. Waste minimisation should be the core basis of this strategy. Developing on the use of more engineered landfills or waste incineration should not be the answer to our waste management crisis."
