BirdLife Malta’s activities for the public continued with a day’s outing to beautiful Gozo organised by the Adult Activities Group.

The morning consisted of a 3-hour walking trek at Ta’ Cenc Cliffs and another from San Raflu to Xlendi.

The walks were ably conducted by Michael Grima who detailed the Ta’ Cenc area as a Scopoli’s Shearwater sanctuary inhabited by around 1,000 pairs (the largest colony on the islands) and Maria Muscat was on hand to detail the flora along the route.

After a lunch at Xlendi, the afternoon was spent touring the Cittadella. Participants got first-hand information on a guided tour of the Old Prisons by Heritage Malta followed by a visit to the Natural History Museum and another guided tour of the Silos by Wirt Ghawdex.

“It was a great day out enjoyed by one and all.” BirdLife Malta said that members of the public and families are welcome to participate in such activities which are held on a regular basis.

The next activity by BirdLife Malta’s Adult Activity Group will be the Buskett Walk on the 22nd of January 2017.
