A ministerial working group on post-secondary education in Malta has recommended 26 proposals which were included in a consultation call which opened today.

The report identifies 13 key challenges which can be broadly classified as follows: teaching and learning; pedagogy; assessment of learning; infrastructure management; and governance.

Based on these present and future challenges, the working group has presented the Minister for Education and Employment Evarist Bartolo a total of 26 proposals which provide tangible solutions and a way forward.

During a press conference held earlier today to launch the consultation, Minister Bartolo said this is another step by which to reach more young people and provide a wider and improved education system.

SDM reacts to the launch of Public Consultation on Post Secondary Reform

Following a Press Conference held earlier today by Malta’s Minister for Education, Evarist Bartolo, SDM said that it is very satisfied to hear that a reform of the Maltese Education System will be taking place.

“Through several meetings and discussions held over the past few years, we have always emphasised that certain sectors of our Educational System require changes, such as the introduction of the 5-Minute Reading time.”

“In addition to this, we look forward to thoroughly analyse the newly launched 277-page document with all the proposals that the Government is putting forward aimed at improving Sixth Form education in Malta,” said SDM

In light of this, SDM said that it is calling for all students who are interested in joining the task force which will be analysing this document to send an e-mail to secgen@sdm.org.mt.
