I Choose – was organised for the third consecutive year in Gozo by the Ministry for Education and Employment.

In the event held on Saturday morning, Gozitan students were given the opportunity to obtain all the necessary information to be in a position to plan their career path and learn more about which courses are available after Year 11 (Form 5).

The aim of this event was to introduce different career options from various educational institutions such as Sixth Form, MCAST, the Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS), and the University of Malta, among others. Individual attention is key, and during the event, Career Guidance Practitioners were available for one-to-one student guidance sessions.

The Ministry said that I Choose was particularly targeted all Gozitan Year 10 (Form 4), Year 11 (Form 5) and post-secondary students who in the near future will be making critical decisions about their future careers.

The programme included a number of interesting discussions about various careers delivered by speakers and professionals from different employment sectors.Visiting this mornings ‘I Choose’ event, Minister for Education and Employment Evarist Bartolo and Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana praised the Gozitan students and their parents for the interest shown, who along with the organisers from different educational institutions provided guidance and direction to better further their education aimed at building their respective careers.

The Education Minister spoke about youths’ aspirations, who need to be treated individually as every individual has different qualities that translate into many potentials and talents.

“The Government is focused to continue working to ensure students are directed to their desired educational path, leading to an achievable successful career goal,” he said.

The importance of educational guidance for our youths as well as the importance of the choices they make during this time of their lives, was stressed by Minister Caruana,

She added that all educational institutions in Malta have some type of representation in Gozo and that this is an advantage for Gozitan students who want to choose a career for their future.

The same event will be repeated over the next weekend spread over two days and targeting Maltese students.

Doors will be open on Friday 6th July from 16:00 till 20:00, and on Saturday 7th July from 09:00 till 17:00 at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta.
