This week, the Minister for Gozo Dr Justyne Caruana welcomed Jan Rijpstra, the Mayor of Dutch town, Noordwijk, for a meeting at the Ministry.
They discussed possible areas for future co-operation, especially in the areas of tourism, education, culture and sustainable development.
Noordwijk, is this year’s European City of Sport, and is located in South Holland. It has 25.000 inhabitants, however in the summer months this number almost doubles in the beach town, with many tourists visiting from Germany and other parts of The Netherlands.
It is divided into two parts: Noordwijk aan Zee – the seaside tourist centre, which used to be a fishing settlement. There is also Noordwijk Binnen, located approximately 2 km inland from the beach, and is the historic village.

Did they discuss hunting and trapping? I doubt it.
