“The fight to combat diabetes must continue relentlessly because every person who succumbs to diabetes is a person who should have been saved.”

MEP Zammit Dimech made these remarks during a conference on diabetes which he organised in collaboration with the Malta Diabetes Association, under the auspices of President Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, to raise more awareness on this 21st century epidemic.

Zammit Dimech added that, he joined the EU diabetes working group, to work closely with all stakeholders, including health professionals, so as to put diabetes on top of the EU’s agenda.

He stated, “we want to represent the best interests of all people with Diabetes in Europe and provide dedicated support and advice to the Diabetes community in driving policy change.”

Zammit Dimech is cochair of the EU Diabetes Working Group.
