The Teatru ta’ l-Opra Aurora, of Victoria, has announced the forthcoming production of Giuseppe Verdi’s Aida, on Saturday the 10th of October 2009. This production coincides with the tenth anniversary of the first production of Aida at the same theatre, in April 1999.
Following the successful staging of La Bohème which saw the participation of Malta’s own Lydia Caruana last October, the Teatru ta’ l-Opra Aurora is now coming up with another operatic blockbuster in four acts.
At present, the management of the Gozitan theatre are in contact with various established international names in the operatic field and will be in a position to publish the names of members of the cast in due course.

The upcoming opera of AIDA at the Aurora Opera House featured on 8pm news bulletin on Malta’s national television station TVM last Saturday September 19th 2009. In a 90 seconds clip,the feature prepared by Peter Cossai presented the formidable international cast which shall participate in this year’s production. Newscaster Keith Demicoli remarked that it is this 10th anniversary which set the occasion for another Aida this time round. Lately, Aida also featured on the news bulletins of the other two major local television stations,NET Television and ONE television.
Saturday 26th September 2009 saw the arrival of italian artistic director Novella Tabili at the Aorora Opera House. This meant the start of the final run-up of daily mucical and stage rehearsals for the Aorora Opera Chorus, which has been studying the ever-famous Verdi scores with Mro Colin Attard since June 2009. Commenting briefly after the rehearsal, Tabili explained how people already tend to build their expectations of the 2009 Aida based on what they saw in 1999. Commemorating the 10th anniversary does not mean putting up a repeat performance but showing our beloved audience how far have we gone since then. And that is what we are committed to do.
The Aorora Folk Group is participatingin in the Notte Bianca celebrations in Valletta on Saturday 3rd October 2009. The group is holding two services at Independance Square and at the Auberge de Baviere.
@Peter Gozo is reknowned for the holding of Operas and cultural activities and the Aurora Opera Theatre is one of them.But please can you publish the cultural programme of the Astra Opera Theatre.
