A 41-year old Portuguese man drowned this afternoon after getting into difficulty while swimming in the Blue Lagoon Comino.

The Police said that the incident happened at about 1pm. He was brought to shore and given first aid by members of the Emergency Response and Rescue Corps.

The man was rushed to the Gozo General Hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead shortly afterwards

A Magisterial Inquiry was appointed into the case and Police investigation is still on going.
