Tourist arrivals to the Maltese Islands up by 2.4% in January

There were an estimated 127,723 Tourist arrival to the Maltese Islands in January, this was an increase of 2.4% on the same month in 2018, the National Statistics Office said today.
Of these, 114,55 were for a holiday, while a further 9,461 were for business purposes.
The NSO noted that arrivals from Non-EU Member States went up by 14.6% to 20,788 when compared to last year.
The number of nights spent also increased, going up by 7.6% on 2018, amounting to 912,439 nights.
Collective accommodation establishments had the largest share of these guest nights (49.2%) the NSO said.
It added that total tourist expenditure was estimated at €84.7 million, an increase of 3.0% over 2018.
