Wirt Ghawdex has said that the 3D Laser scans and photogrammetric surveys have been carried out of the interior and external of Calypso Cave, a popular tourist site in Gozo.
The NGO was commissioned by the Ministry for Gozo in March to coordinate a study on the condition of the cave, as well as recommend the necessary interventions required to preserve it from collapse.
The team on site was under the supervision of architect Hermann Bonnici and also included a geologist.
Wirt Ghawdex explained that the next step in this first phase is to collate the results from all these studies and formalise a report/rehabilitation plan to be presented to the Ministry for Gozo.
Further interventions will depend on the outcome of this report, the NGO said.
