The village of Gharb is getting ready to welcome this weekend’s participants for the second edition of the International Kite & Wind Festival, taking place in the area near San Dimitri chapel – just north of the village of Gharb.
Organised by the Ministry for Gozo and Gharb Local Council, the Festival will take place over the weekend of the 18th-20th of October – with full programme details shown below.
Visitors to the festival will have the opportunity to experience this ancient tradition, which will feature the participation of 20 international delegations of traditional and professional kit fliers.
There will also be food stalls, entertainment, and games complementing the main activities over the weekend.
People may register their interest to attend kite making workshops on Friday and Saturday organised as part of the festival programme and the Council said that applications are being extended due to the strong demand.
Registration is also being accepted for the Best kite Competition on Sunday afternoon.
A free shuttle service to the festival will be available from Victoria Parking from 9.00am to 7.00pm on Saturday and 9am to 4pm on Sunday, last shuttle on Saturday from Gharb to Victoria at 10pm and at 7.30pm on Sunday.
