International and local swimmers depart Hondoq for X-Waters event

Earlier this week a group of both international and local swimmers, racing in the X-Waters event, departed from Hondoq Bay, Gozo, passing by Comino and made shore in Malta, swimming a distance of 6 kilometres.

There were three races between the islands over last weekend, 1km and 2.3km, which started in Malta and the 6km from Gozo, with more than 300 swimmers taking part in the events. Shorter swims were also organised for children

The main aim of X-Waters is to bring awareness to the general public of sea pollution and the need to reduce plastics. X-Waters consists of 12 activities around six countries in Europe and Middle East.International and local swimmers depart Hondoq for X-Waters eventQala Mayor Paul Buttigieg was on hand to see the swimmers depart from Hondoq. He was representing the Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana, who was unavailable to attend due to commitments in Malta
