Eleven studies have been completed and published on the proposed Gozo tunnel, the government has said. The full list is shown below
The Ministry for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Project and the Ministry for Gozo, in a joint statement on Saturday, was referring to the judicial protest filed by a number of organisations regarding the ongoing process of the Gozo tunnel project.
The statement said that the government is giving importance to this project and understood the national consensus there is on it and the need for this connection to be implemented.
“The tunnel project is intended to create a permanent connection between the islands with a view to overcoming the challenges experienced by Gozitan workers, families and patients with the aim of strengthening not only the Gozitan economy but enhance social development through quality of life,” the statement said.
It added that, the process moving forward on this project is a rigorous one that began in 2018 by Malta Infrastructure and is ongoing to this day.
A few weeks ago a call was issued for a Pre-Qualification Questionnaire. The government said that this call was also announced internationally in European Union journal.
The government concluded by saying that “while it understands that this is a major project and will be attracting a lot of attention, it is ensuring that the planning work and preparations for drilling and construction of the tunnel will be carried out with the aim of achieving sustainable solutions and to obtain the best value for the capital investment.

3. Social impact assessment
4. Geological and Geotechnical Investigation
5. Project description statement
6. Investigative coring
7. Tor appropriates for assessment
8. ToR for Environmental assessment impace
9. A study about the-tunnel Between Malta and Gozo
10. Forecasts for traffic flows through-the Malta-Gozo tunnel
11. Conceptual design.

Absurd, expect an investment of 3Bil euros!!
a rail link tunnel would be the most sensible scheme with the opportunity of further links on land ,would be more suitable for the atmosphere ,(no fuel fumes )with a tunnel of this length the cost of providing ventilation would be immense .electric trains , one line each way would be smaller in size and would just require a centre service tunnel .could be extended on land both ends as funding permitted .look at the channel tunnel design .common sense ?
and the rest .i refer all to my suggested rail tunnel scheme .
No to the tunnel, the ferry only takes twenty minutes to cross. The problem is the traffic jams in the villages and that is why for me from Marsalforn to Kalkara takes me four hours. I prefer a fast ferry which arrives in one hour.
This project is nonsense .

i have spoken to a lot of my gozo friends , also strangers and was amazed to discover that a good proportion of them think that use of the tunnel will be free????????
