With the interest surrounding former mayor Pete Buttigieg, candidate for the Democratic nomination in the upcoming United States Presidential Election, Washington Post journalist Chico Harlan spent some time in Malta and Gozo to discover more about the Buttigieg surname.
He found out there are 2,850 Buttigiegs, with plenty of support behind the Democratic nominee from the Maltese and Gozitans.
During his visit to Gozo, Chico Harlan met many locals in the village of Qala, which of course, has many Buttigiegs, and was introduced by Prof Michael Bugeja to mayor Paul Buttigieg who gave the journalist a guided tour around this beautiful village.

Plenty of support cause they don”t know what Pete stands for. Liberal Washington post is against conservatives which the majority of Gozitans and Maltese are especially when it comes to abortion.
Could it be correct me if i am wrong, would it possibly be that many are intermarried with say a cousin or an uncle what ever ? thus keeping it in the family including properties etc.,
