Supt. of Public Health, Prof Charmaine Gauci, said on Saturday, that there another five new positive cases in Malta, the total is now eighteen. She stressed that all cases are imported.

The 19-year old girl that was confirmed this morning had attended one lecture on her return to Malta and Prof. Gauci said that authorities are now undertaking contact tracing. Her family are all in quarantine and so far are not showing any symptoms.

There is a Russian man who returned on the 4th of March, he started displaying symptoms on the 11th of March, he works with a private company, and lives with one other person who has also been taken into quarantine, however they are not reporting symptoms. Authorities are carrying out contact tracing

Two Maltese men in separate cases, one, a 33-year old, who was in Dublin between the 7th and 10th of March, with symptoms starting on the 9th of March, the authorities are tracing passengers who may have come into contact with him on the plane.

The other man was in Barcelona between the 6th and 9th of March. He went into self-quarantine on his return and Prof. Gauci said that symptoms started on the 13th of March.

The remaining cases so far today are a foreign couple, one from Hong-Kong and the other from Italy, they were both together in Madrid from the 7th to the 10th of March and they reported symptoms on the 11th of March. They both work at a private company and the authorities are carrying out contact tracing.
