Heritage Malta is offering the general public the opportunity to visit its three museums and the Grand Master’s Palace in Valletta at half price on March 28th. Furthermore Valletta residents will be able to visit these sites at half price between the 23rd and 29th March. The three museums are the National Museum of Archaeology in Republic Street, the National museum of Fine Arts in South Street and the Palace Armoury.

In the National Museum of Fine Arts visitors will be able to see some of the old maps of Valletta from The Albert Ganado Map Collection which was recently passed to the Maltese state some months ago. The maps show different views of Valletta and the Grand Harbour area. These maps give an insight to the development of Malta’s Capital from the laying of the first stone on the Xebb ir-Ras Hill to the development of the Capital City into British military base.

In the National Museum of Archaeology one will be able to visit the permanent exhibition and admire the large number of artefacts including the Sleeping Lady, which was found in the Hal Saflieni, the Maltese Venus which was found at Hagar Qim and the large altars from the Tarxien Temples.

In the Grand Salon of the National Museum of Archaeology there will also be an exhibition of paintings by the well-known Maltese artist John Martin Borg which will be accompanied by archaeological artefacts from the Roman and Byzantine period.
