Malta Police has announced that the public can now put in calls for service and make certain reports remotely without the need to visit a station.

This can be done; either over the phone on +356 2294 0000, online at https://pulizija.gov.mt/opres/, using the Android & iOS 112mt App or via email on pulizija@gov.mt

The Police said that this is part of a Contingency Plan which the Malta Police Force established to respond to the challenges emanating from the Coronavirus.

This comes into effect on Wednesday, the 1st of April and is intended for offences that do not require an immediate police response.

When filing a report remotely, one must confirm and consider the following:

• The complainant’s identity and contact number should the Police require to get in touch;

• The reported case is not an emergency;

• Filing a false police report is a crime punishable by imprisonment;

• The Malta Police Force will review the case and contact the complainant if further information is needed;

• Follow up may be done via email or telephone.

The Police thanked everyone for the cooperation and support shown to the Malta Police Force.
