During today’s update on the current Covid-19 situation, Supt of Public Health Prof Charmaine Gauci said that 1 new case had been reported in the past 24-hours at Hal-Far, from 944 tests carried out, more than 35,000 tests have been carried out so far.

She went on to say that there are 468 cases, 12 more people have recovered, 85 cases are currently active, and there have been 4 deaths. The majority of the 85 patients are recovering at home.

Prof Gauci appealed to the public to follow the guidelines on the new measures as announced yesterday, and not to think that things are back to normal. She added that if everyone starts going out, “the good work achieved so far will all be undone.”

A legal notice will be published by Monday regarding the new measures, which would also allow enforcement officers to monitor the retail outlets.

Gauci also explained that vulnerable people, including the over 65s will not be allowed to cross to Gozo.

She also warned that Malta is still in a state of public health emergency, and as yet it is still too early for churches to open for religious services.
